Justice and Law Enforcement

JUSTICE-AND-LAW

We at the Foundation will work and collaborate with the various institutions, individuals and offices (The Police, Ministries of Justice, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Judges, and Office of the Public Defender e.t.c) involved in the administration of justice to ensure that every child receives protection services.

We do not act as lawyers for victims, we are however, are available to victims to discuss their legal rights, the legal process, possible outcomes and to provide information that will help victims and their families. We help them make informed decisions about whether or not to engage in the court process.

As Legal Advocates, we –

♦ Help the victims and families think through options and support them in navigating the complex legal system.

♦ Provide referrals for other services for the victims and their families.

♦ Provide information on victim’s legal rights and protection

♦ Provide technical support to welfare officers, police, prosecutors, judges (with regards to Cece Yara’s policy on confidentiality) regarding the dimensions on child sexual, safety planning and protect the child from further harm.

♦ Work to get victims/survivors and their families connected to skilled, competent legal resources when necessary.

♦ Provide information on the abuses

We will act as Legal Advocates to child (victims of sexual abuse) and their family. As Legal Advocates we are trained to protect and support victims of sexual abuse and their family as they become involved with the criminal and civil procedures. We also offer victims legal information, help find resources and carry out necessary paperwork.
