Counselling & Support

Listening Can Make All The Difference

Child sexual abuse can have physical, sexual, and psychological effect on children. Some of the effect can be short or long term.

The short term includes fear, pains, nausea feelings, and excessive crying. The long term effect are Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Compulsive Sexual Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Behaviour, Obsessive Behaviour, Eating Disorder, self-harm and Substance Use Disorders (SUDs), re-victimization,  Attention Deficit Hyper-Active Disorder (ADHD), inability to concentrate in schools, Sexually Transmitted Diseases( STDs), suicidal thoughts and unwanted pregnancy. These traumatic experiences can interfere with the child’s daily life and ability to function and interact with others.

One of the most important things our counselling program offers survivors of sexual abuse is being listened to in an emphatic way; being believed and having someone accept that the abuse happened.
