At the Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre, rescue is never the end of the story.
For every child who has experienced abuse, exploitation, neglect, or violence, healing is as critical as safety. Our psycho-social support services exist to help children move beyond survival and get healed and adjusted to living a normal post-abusive life.
Why Psycho-Social Support Matters
Children who experience abuse often carry invisible wounds including fear, shame, anxiety, depression, self-blame, and disrupted development. Without intentional psycho-social care, these effects can persist long after physical harm has ended, affecting learning, relationships, and long-term wellbeing.
Cece Yara’s psycho-social services are grounded in trauma-informed, survivor-centred practice, recognising that every child’s experience and healing journey is unique.
What Our Psycho-Social Services Provide
Our trained psychologists, counsellors, and social workers deliver structured and age-appropriate and developmentally sensitive interventions that include:
- Trauma-informed counselling for child survivors of sexual abuse, exploitation, domestic servitude, and other forms of violence
- Emotional stabilisation and crisis support immediately following disclosure or rescue
- Ongoing therapeutic sessions to address trauma symptoms, restore self-esteem, and build coping skills
- Play therapy and creative expression for younger children who communicate beyond words
- Adolescent-focused psychosocial care that supports identity, boundaries, and resilience
- Caregiver and family counselling to strengthen safe environments and prevent re-victimisation
All services are delivered in child-friendly spaces designed to promote safety, trust, and confidentiality.
Integrated Care: Beyond Counselling
Psycho-social support at Cece Yara does not stand alone. It is fully integrated into our one-stop response model, working hand-in-hand with:
- Specialised medical treatment and evaluation
- Forensic interview services
- Legal Aid/Guardian Ad Litem and support persons
- Case management and referral pathways
- Educational advocacy
This holistic approach ensures that children are supported emotionally while practical steps are taken to protect them and restore their innocence.
Supporting the Most Invisible Children
Many of the children we support, especially marginalised children including child domestic workers and children abused within private spaces have lived for years without being seen or believed. Our psycho-social services prioritise amplifying their voices and empowering the children to participate actively in their own healing process.
Our Impact
Through consistent psycho-social care, children supported by Cece Yara demonstrate:
- Improved emotional regulation and confidence,
- Renewed engagement with school and learning,
- Healthier relationships with caregivers and peers, and
- Reduced trauma symptoms over time.
Healing is not instant, but with the right support, it is possible.
Our Commitment
At Cece Yara, we believe every child deserves more than rescue; they deserve healing, dignity, and the chance to thrive. Our psycho-social services are a promise to every survivor that they are not defined by what happened to them, and they do not have to walk the journey alone.
